Why not help the people impacted by Tonawanda Coke's pollution first?
The President of Tonawanda Coke, Paul Saffrin, recently donated $1 million to Daemen College and another $1 million to Explore and More Museum. This did not sit well with local community activists such as those a part of Citizen Science Community Resources.
In a press release from Jackie James-Creedon she stated "We don't deny that these donations were made to two worthy causes. But given the circumstances of how this money was made (off the backs of people in this community), wouldn't it be logical to donate this money to the people that have been harmed by this company's pollution first? In the spirit of the season and considering Mr. Saffrin's remarks, what better way to be a good neighbor than to help the people that live in his own neighborhood?"
